- use Floetrol (sold at all big box home improvement stores) to thin out latex-based paint. - use Penetrol (same maker as Floetrol) to thin out oil-based paint. These paint additives help the paint/primer go on more smoothly. - I have experimented with different PSI (pressure) settings on my air compressor. I have used anywhere from 30-90 PSI.
Hopefully the finish product will look good. I'll thin the Advance with water and see how things go from there. Thanks for the advice on Aura, I probably would have used floetrol. I'm also going to try and spray BM Regal (Exterior) on the deck handrails and spindles. I'll use the floetrol and/or Water there as well.
Re: Paint thinner (mineral spirits) Julian thanks for clearing that up, that was very informative and I am sure helped others as well. there is definitely a lot to know about solvents for the thousands of different products on the market and manufacturers are not always that clear on what should be used, or rather what would work when the product is starting to thicken up.. from storage etc.
